Multan is a city of tourist places west Asian ancient city in South Asia. Its exact can be determined yet but it is said that it is almost 5000 years old and it was built by Raja Kashup and its name was “kashup Pur”. His successors were defeated by Alexander the Great. It was Multan where an arrow struck Alexander and became the cause of his death.
In 664 Multan was envisioned by the first Muslim array from Persia. And then a few decades later Muhammed bin Qasim has taken Multan along with Sindh. In the Mughal era, Multan enjoyed over 200 years of peace. After that Marathas and Sikhs involved Multan.
Multan region becomes Muslim due to saints and today their dargahs are all over Multan city. That is usually it is called “city of saints”
There are different stories about the city. According to persons city was founded by the great-grandson of Noah, Hindu religion told that raja kashup founded this city and some say it was ruled by Katoch dynasty at the time of Kurukshetra was (Mahabharat)
Multan covers an area of 133 square kilometers. It is a fertile land between Sutlej and Chenab rivers and famous for its citrus mango farms.
Multan has very hot summers and mild winters Monsoon lasts in July and September and sometimes there are heavy rainstorms. In summers here are dust storms in Multan which produce violent winds too. In winters there is some moderate rainfall sometimes with hailstorms.
Multan is a rich cultural city and celebrates many festivals like Basant and spring festival. Multan has some special events to celebrate related to the Sufis of this city like (URS)of Shah Rukn-e –Alam, Bahauddin Zakriya, and Shah Shams Tabrizi.

Mausoleum of Mai Maharban
Mausoleum of Mai Maharban is probably the oldest structure in Multan dated 1140 AD. She is one of the female saint famous for her please nature.
Khooniburj is an old city wall of Multan. The tower is the requirement of the city wall destroyed by the British in 1849. It is believed that at this same place Alexender the Great was injured by that poisoned arrow, in 1849 this is the place of a fierce fight between Sikhs and British array which earned the place its name.
The famous Clock tower of Multan was built in 1884 and was completed in 4 years. It was constructed at the ruins of Haveli of Ahamd Khan Sadzai. Now a day this building is known as Multan Mausoleum. Now a day a place to develop a future 3D mausoleum is in progress to make it the best tourist places.
This is a military installation and by some estimates was built between 800 to 1000 B.c by Katoch dynasty. The walls were 40 to 70 feet high and a ditch 45 feet deep and 40 feet wide protects the fort from intruders. Fort was destroyed by the British array during its rule in India.
MGM Services Club of Multan Cantt
It is also known as Services Club Multan. It is a very beautiful building and a very attractive architect. This building consists of 13 domes with different sizes for the purpose of enhancing the beauty of the building. It was constructed in 1880 by ( Gachee Matii ) or Multani matii/ clay. This building was constructed by Turkish architecture.
One of the greatest studies of suherwardiyya silsila was Bha-ud-Din Zikria. He was born in 1170 in Layyah district. Moreover, his tomb is 1577 square meters internally and has a hemisphere dome mausoleum was almost complete lying in 1848 by British but Muslims restored it afterward.
he was the grandson of Bahauddin zikria . his tomb was built in 1320-1324 and is a masterpiece. It is the most prominent site of this city and can be seen from miles away. Its building is 1577 in diameter internally. Its walls are 41 feet 4 inches high and 13 feet 3 inches thick. The total height of the tomb is 150 feet from the road level. Its dome is called to be the second largest in the world.
There is a tomb of Shah Gardez near Bohar Gate. Moreover, that is a rectangular building without any dome also decorated with glazed tiles beautifully. Most Importantly, Shah Gardezi came to Multan in 1088 and many people accepted Islam because of his allegedly performed miracles. His descendants are known as Gardezies and are one of few old notable families.
